Cerrado e grafismo do povo Inỹ-Karajá: ambiente, natureza e cultura

Abstract

Traditionally, the Karajá call themselves Inỹ, which in the traditional dialect means "we," these peoples are the core of this research; whose objective is to evaluate the interdependence between indigenous culture and the environment, in order to highlight the ethnic, cultural, and environmental plurality existing in the Cerrado, the territory that the Inỹ-Karajá inhabit. To this end, two works were treated as research sources, with a view to elaborating a comparative study between book 1 - Adornments and Karajá Body Painting, organized by scholar Lydia Poleck, and book 2 - Iny Tkylysinamy Ribéna - Iny Karajá Art, cultural heritage of Brazil, organized by anthropologists Nei Clara de Lima and Rosani Moreira Leitão. Methodologically, this comparative study sought to understand the historical and cultural relations of the Inỹ people in the face of the economic transformations that have crossed the Cerrado, especially its territory, in view of the fauna of the place and its importance for Indigenous Grafism. The environmental impacts of recent decades décadas (1990-2019) have put several Cerrado species at risk of extinction, and this scenario threatens the life and different ways of being and existing of the Inỹ.
