Lugar do turista em Uberaba (MG), do Sítio da ABCZ à Terra de Gigantes

Abstract

This dissertation focuses on the Uberaba Geopark, Land of Giants. This research, using verse, photographs, and results, retells the ABCZ's centuries old history and presents a perspective on the ABCZ Historical and Cultural Site, the research object that brings us to the tourist destination with the Zebu heritage of Uberaba, Minas Gerais. A tourist destination steeped in history and Zebu strength, Fernando Costa Park, home to the world's largest Zebu cattle fair: EXPOZEBU. The research proposal was to understand the tourist's place, from different perspectives and perspectives, understanding a celebration that represents the tourist identity of Uberaba residents. In this sense, we seek to achieve our general ob jective by proposing three specific objectives: to investigate place, a category of geographic analysis, based on the theories and theorists who propose their reflections on the interplay between Geography and Tourism; to study the ABCZ Historical and C ultural Site in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, based on its centuries old history, geography, and tourist location; To identify the tourism relevance of the ABCZ Site in terms of promoting the municipality of Uberaba, as well as its prospects and threats. Thus, we narrate this story from the perspective of a participating researcher to reclaim the place of memory, a place poetically discussed in the opening sections of each session. The stories told here, in three chapters, intertwine with the emotional memor ies of the research object, our ABCZ Site. We emphasize our involvement with the research object described here, as we report on the fieldwork conducted during 2023 and 2024 in Fernando Costa Park, as well as our participation in monitoring at the Zebu Museum in 2024. Therefore, the methodological approaches followed were bibliographical and documentary research, and fieldwork. This research was theoretically based on authors who address Geodiversity, Geotourism, and the Geography of Tourism. The stu dy's documentary research included promotional material for the Uberaba Geopark, data and information from the Zebu Museum, books, and magazines. The fieldwork allowed us to understand the role of ABCZ in promoting local Geotourism, as well as to identi fy the profile of EXPOZEBU visitors through on site research during the 89th EXPOZEBU and a SWOT analysis of the 2024 edition. In this sense, this dissertation tells us the stories of Brazilian livestock, ABCZ, and this tourist location in the Cerrado region of Minas Gerais, the ABCZ Historical and Cultural Site.
