Grupo Caramuru Alimentos S.A., em Itumbiara/Goiás : das interações socioeconômicas ambientais

Abstract

The object of this study is to analyze a large food industry, Caramuru Alimentos SA, headquartered in Itumbiara, Goiás, founded in 1975. Currently, the company is present through branches in the states of Goiás, Paraná, Mato Grosso and São Paulo and operates in the manufacturing segments of industrialized products for human consumption, animal feed, industrial inputs, commodity marketing, biodiesel production and logistics. Serves thousands of consumers in the country through its different natural product lines based on soy, corn, sunflower and canola, as well as providing raw material for pasta manufacturers, biscuits, and other segments such as breweries, mining companies and industry of feed. The objective of this study was to understand how the processes of formation and structuring of spatial articulations undertaken by Caramuru Alimentos S.A., highlighting the socioeconomic and environmental aspects and how these contribute to the insertion of the municipality of Itumbiara / Goiás into the global economy. In order to develop this research, we used as methodological procedures: bibliographic research, documentary research and field research, this in turn, based on the application of semi-structured interview scripts to the directors and employees of the industry under study. The research is based on a qualitative approach for the analysis of the data, information and objectives proposed. The theoretical-methodological proposal for this study was made through the use of the concept of networks, which is consolidated through the establishment of a space of material and immaterial flows articulated by this Group, which enable diverse connections and relationships, with several places and at international, national, regional and local levels. The South Goiano is integrated nationally from the installation of agribusiness, the installation of companies linked to the Agroindustrial Complex, transportation infrastructures and services that serve the large economic groups that produce, commercialize and process agricultural commodities. Caramuru Alimentos has contributed to this new dynamic of capital to establish in Itumbiara, for diversifying its area of operation, which results in the opening of food processing companies, animal feed manufacturing, export of grain, among other segments. In this sense, the company contributes along with so many others to the dynamism and local economic growth, as well as to other localities, which received subsidiaries of this company. Therefore, the insertion of the Caramuru Alimentos Group in the ranking of the “Biggest 500 of ICMS” of Goiás indicates how intense the financial movement of the company in the state is and places the municipality of Itumbiara among the ten largest ICMS state collectors, as well as in a great generator of jobs in the localities where it is present.
