Estudos sobre leitura em língua inglesa : análise da pesquisa acadêmica stricto sensu produzida no Brasil entre 2001 e 2011

Abstract

The scope of the field of reading and its interfaces with other knowledge areas, causing changes in the teaching and learning of English Language, are evidenced through the diverse scientific production consolidated in scientific journals, databases and in Universities’ libraries. To better understand what has drawn the attention of researchers on the teaching of reading in English language in our country, we attempted to gather in this State of Art research thesis and dissertations produced in federal universities in Brazil between 2001 and 2011. Thus, We organized and analyzed the trajectory of reading instruction in Brazil, through a survey, with data organized by region, time, and educational institution, degree of titration advocated, audience and institutions, by level of education of target audience (students) and in accordance with the predominant focus in the teaching of reading, to the end we analyze in more depth the conceptions, models and processes of reading found in these studies, identifying the theoretical framework used in the research presents convergent or divergent aspects with the practice of classroom of their researchers. The analysis results show the interactional conceptions and interactive reading model as the favorite of researchers when it comes to theoretical models to guide their work, which diverged during the field research assumptions, since most of these researchers found in the practice room class, the structuralist conception and botton up model reading as the most present during the process.
