Estratégias metaficcionais em “A ocupação”, de Julián Fuks

Abstract

When we taking about studies on metafictionality, its procedures in the narrative text and the role of the reader in the co-production of meanings in contemporary fiction, this dissertation examines the presence of these issues in the fictional writing of Julián Fuks. In his work, the constant presence of the reader and other metafictional narrative strategies is evident. Such mechanisms, especially in A Ocupação, are operationalized from the criticisms that the narrator-author of the previous novels Procura do romance (2011) and A resistência (2015) makes about his creative process, making them self-conscious narratives of his work fictional. In these novels, in addition to playing a fundamental role in the construction of the text's meanings, the reader participates in the writing moments of the work, accompanies the narrator-writer, Sebastián, through the obstacles and reflections that permeate the writer's craft. We will use as theoretical support the reflections of Linda Hutcheon (1984; 1985; 1991), Patricia Waugh (1984), Zênia de Faria (2012; 2019), Flávio Carmargo (2019) among others, as well as we will also dwell on the critical fortune about the Fuks novels. Finally, in our view, Fuks' fiction transgresses the traditional forms of the genres by proposing hybrid plots that mix autobiography, memory and history.
