A importância do patrimônio arqueológico e da educação patrimonial em obras de infraestrutura urbana e restauro em cidades históricas : estudo de caso sobre a Cidade de Goiás (2014 – 2018)

Abstract

This report provides a critical analysis and a survey of heritage education actions undertaken within the scope of archaeological monitoring and rescue projects related to restoration and requalification works in the city of Goiás from 2014 to 2018. These actions are documented in reports submitted to the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN). It is emphasized that the historic center of the city of Goiás is registered with IPHAN as an urban historical archaeological site, and the construction activities within this area that impact the subsurface require archaeological research, as stipulated by Brazilian legislation for the protection of archaeological heritage (Law 3.924/61 and the Brazilian Constitution of 1988). In conjunction with archaeological research, heritage education initiatives with the community must also take place, as outlined in Ordinance 230/2002. The research focuses on educational actions implemented in infrastructure projects funded by the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) at the Veiga Valle School of Arts Mansion, Municipal Market, São Joaquim Cinema-Theater, and the Municipal Hall Mansion of Goiás. Additionally, it includes the redevelopment of the Diocese of Goiás headquarters (installation of the Diocesan Archive). The results of these analyses are compared with heritage education activities carried out during the restoration of the Carioca Fountain and the archaeological monitoring and rescue project associated with the implementation of the transportation and sewage collection network in the city of Goiás. The research employs bibliographic and documentary analyses, emphasizing the importance of heritage education in the construction of identity, memory, and the protection of Goiás' cultural heritage. In addition to the research presented in this report, the study encompasses a product: a kit consisting of an archaeological box and a manual containing information aimed at enhancing knowledge about heritage education in the city of Goiás.
