Lirismo e resistência : a poesia de José Godoy Garcia

Abstract

This study has the finality to present José Godoy Garcia’s work, basing in his anthology Poesias, published in 1999, because of his 50 years of writing. To do the research we studied, firstly, the biographical considerations about the poet, and then indications about the authors traditionally affiliated to the Brazilian Modernism. In order to present José Godoy and his poetry, we used an approach exercise, especially, with the authors that tread the way of social and engaged poetry like Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Ferreira Gullar and Solano Trindade. It was necessary to observe intersection points about Modernism and modernity and their implications in this poet’s work. We searched for the characteristics of this movement, like social engagement, attention to the excluded, orality, metalanguage and regionalism in some poems of the book, after we highlight the importance of José Godoy Garcia in the formation of the Modernism in Goiás, with other names like Bernardo Élis and José Décio Filho. Another point observed was the constitution of the subject lyrical in the work of the goiano poet; the objective was to present the different possibilities to see this subject lyrical in the poems. During this research, we realized José Godoy Garcia is not isolated of the Brazilian Modernism, in some moments, he transcends the movement because of the variety of texts, forms, rhythms and meanings that are part of the book Poesias. The Godoy Gacia’s texts are always according to the social reality, specially, with a look at humility people. To get to these results we utilized the bibliographical search and the critical analysis of the poems. And we use like mainly theoretical basis Gilberto Mendonça Teles (1983), Octávio Paz (1984), Charles Baudelaire (1996), Assis Brasil (1997), Alfredo Bosi (1997), Salomão Sousa (1999), Theodor Adorno (2003) e Michel Collot (2013) to base this dissertation.
